CAS® Designation

The Certified Annuity Specialist® (CAS®) is a nationally recognized annuity designation by the Institute of Business & Finance (IBF). Certification requires a mastery of contract structure, strategies, income structuring, equity-indexed products and principals of asset allocation. The CAS® program is designed for brokers and advisors who have clients seeking estate preservation protection, an income stream they cannot outlive, tax benefits or the upside potential of the stock market without any downside risk. This study requires that the student must pass three comprehensive exams, complete a written case study as well as adhere to the IBF Code of Ethics and IBF Standards of Practice and fulfill annual continuing education requirements. As a CAS®, Richard always puts his clients first and upholds a high level of ethics, objectivity, and professionalism.

CES® Designation

The Certified Estate and Trust Specialist® (CES®) is a graduate-level designation educational program focusing on trusts, wills, probate, retirement benefits, caring for children, and what should be done after the death of a loved one. Over $50 trillion is expected to pass from one generation to another during the next half century. CES® certification requires mastery of different types of trusts, ownership rules, disinheritance, probate, pay-on-death accounts, insurance, spousal restrictions, special needs, conservatorships, and managing assets. According to IBF, “There are a large number of estate planning books and courses offered. The CES® program is one of the only courses that covers all aspects of estate planning including what needs to be done after death.” The CES® program is designed for brokers and advisors who have clients in their 60s or older as well as those who may be providing care to an aging relative. This study requires that the student must pass three comprehensive exams, complete a written case study as well as adhere to the IBF Code of Ethics and IBF Standards of Practice and fulfill annual continuing education requirements. CFS® Designation

The Certified Fund Specialist® (CFS®) is a nationally recognized mutual fund designation by the Institute of Business & Finance (IBF). Certification requires a mastery of portfolio construction, risk measurement, manager selection, monitoring, income strategies, retirement accounts, titling, taxation and the psychological aspects of finance set by the IBF. This graduate-level designation is conferred upon candidates who complete a rigorous educational program of study focusing on closed-end funds, mutual funds, ETFs, REITs, UITs and modern portfolio theory. This study requires that the student must pass three comprehensive exams, complete a written case study as well as adhere to the IBF Code of Ethics and IBF Standards of Practice and fulfill annual continuing education requirements. CIS® Designation

The Certified Income Specialist® (CIS®) is the only nationally recognized retirement designation by the Institute of Business & Finance (IBF). This graduate-level designation is conferred upon candidates who complete a one-year educational program focusing on fixed-income instruments, retirement and financial planning, taxes, Social Security, withdrawal plans, stretch IRAs, and reverse mortgages. The CIS® certification requires mastery of Medicare, income taxes, fixing any income shortfall, home health care, reverse mortgages, surviving a bear market, plus accumulation and distribution concerns. According to IBF, “Members of the financial services community are taught how to help their clients accumulate assets. What has always been missing is comprehensive and unbiased information as to how to turn assets into reliable income. The CIS® program addresses these issues and provides the answers.” The study requires that the student must pass three comprehensive exams, complete a written case study as well as adhere to the IBF Code of Ethics and IBF Standards of Practice as well as fulfill annual continuing education requirements. CTS® Designation

The Certified Tax Specialist® (CTS®) is the only nationally recognized tax designation by the Institute of Business & Finance (IBF). This graduate-level designation is conferred upon candidates who complete an educational program focusing on personal income taxes and methods to reduce tax liability. CTS® certification requires mastery of the basic income tax formula and its computation, retirement plans, deductions, credits, capital gains, depreciation, payroll taxes and tax planning. According to the IBF, “No one likes to talk about taxes. Most people are intimidated by the subject matter. Yet, tax reduction can be surprisingly easy.” This study requires the student must pass three comprehensive exams, complete a written case study as well as adhere to the IBF Code of Ethics and IBF Standards of Practice as well as fulfill annual continuing education requirements. RICP® Designation

Not all financial planners are certified. A Retirement Income Certified Professional® (RICP®) designation means the financial planner has fulfilled rigorous education and experience requirements set by the RICP® Board. The RICP® advisor can help decide the best time to claim Social Security and company retirement benefits while focusing on how to convert savings into steady guarantied retirement income. The RICP® advisor not only uses smart strategies to avoid negative impact to a client’s retirement savings but also helps make financial plans for health and long-term care, life insurance, and annuities.
